Review: Two Dark Reigns by Kendare Blake

Hello there!

I am finally posting my review of Two Dark Reigns by Kendare Blake the third book in the Three Dark Crowns series. Since this is the third book of a series there will be spoilers on the first two books Three Dark Crowns and One Dark Throne. I have reviews for both those books so check those out if want to know my thoughts on those.

About:

Two Dark Reigns picks up a little after the events of One Dark Throne. Arsinoe, Mirabella, and Billy made it to the mainland but now Arsinoe keeps having dreams of the Blue Queen who seems to want her and Mirabella to go back home. Katharine is Queen and dealing with the repercussions of the King Consort’s untimely death as well as with the out of control fog that keeps bringing bodies to shore. Jules is trying to find her way after returning to the Island leaving Arsinoe and the others on the mainland and dealing with Joseph’s death. Jules meets a war-gifted girl who is gathering an army to take down the throne.

Thoughts:

After reading the two short stories The Young Queens and The Oracle Queen  I was so excited to pick up Two Dark Reigns and find out more about Fennbirn’s past. Boy, did Kendare Blake deliver! Nothing new is learned of the last Oracle Queen but we got so much information on the Blue Queen. As well as some details on the Island of Fennbirn itself. I was flipping the pages so excited to keep leaning secrets of Fennbirn Island.

Just from the information that is revealed about the past made this my favorite book so far in the series. I am so excited to see what happens in the next book because I need more answers and want more secrets to be revealed.

I will say that my least favorite parts were when we were catching up with Jules, just because I wanted to get back to the three Queens. Their storyline was more interesting to me.

Let’s talk about that ending really quick. In true Kendare Blake fashion, she wrote such a strong ending that just left me wanting more. These books always have the craziest cliffhangers that leave me with my jaw on the floor. At the end of this book, I literally said “What just happened?” because I was just so shocked.

Rating:

I gave Two Dark Reigns five stars out of Five. Like I already said this is by far my favorite in the series so far. I was able to read this quicker than the first two because I was so invested to find out what happened next. I honestly can’t wait to read the last book and find out how this story ends.

Until next time book nerds,
